Foundress of IWBS Sisters
The Sisters at Incarnate Word Convent held a crowning ceremony to honor our Blessed Mother Mary. Since we are commemorating the 100th anniversary of Our Lady's Apparation to three young shepherd children in Portugal, we crowned the statue of Our Lady of Fatima in our Chapel Foyer.
Sister Marian was chosen to crown Mary and Sister Clare (not shown) was the crown-bearer in our procession.
Sister Magdalene was honored as a DAISY Award Recipient. Sister was awarded for her extraordinary passion for her profession as an RN on the 5th floor surgical unit at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westoverhills in San Antonio on February 2017.
Seven Sisters of the
Incarnate Word and
Blessed Sacrament of Victoria have publicly celebrated the aniversaries of their religious profession.
Pictured at right are: (front row-) Sister Donna Bonorden (50 years), Sister Odilia Korenek (60 years), Sister Stephana Marbach (60 years), (seated) Sister Mary Virginia Sheblak (70 years), Sister Serena Etzler (60 years), Sister Mary Theresa Fritz (60 years), and Sister Stephanie Marie Martinez (50 years).
Sister Patricia Marie Lohre made her perpetual profession as a Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament of Victoria, Texas, in a ceremony on August 19 . She pronounced vows of Chastity, Poverty, and Obedience for life. Perpetual vows are usually preceded by five years of annual vows. At her perpetual profession, she receives a ring as a symbol of her committment to the Incarnate Word.
Sister Maria del Rosario Resendez made her profession as a Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament of Victoria, Texas, in a ceremony on August 6, the Feast of the Transfiguration. She pronounced annual vows of Chastity, Poverty, and Obedience for one year. She will renew her vows each year until she makes perpetual vows. Perpetual vows are usually preceded by five years of annual vows. At her first profession, she exchanges her white veil which is worn as a novice for the black veil of the professed Sisters. She also receives a crucifix which she is holding in her arms in the photo at left.
The Chezard Award is given each year to Sisters who exemplify to others their God-given talents and skills in their service of the Incarnate Word. They are chosen each year by members of the Community who detect these special qualities in the Sisters who are named.The first award was presented to Sister Bernard Bludau (left), Assistant Principal, at Nazareth Acadamy. The award was presented by Sister Emiliana Grafe, a member of the award committee.
The Second Award was presented to Sister Maria Goretti Warzecha (right) for her generous support and service in prior ministries to her students and now she resides at Incarnate Word Convent where she generously helps her Sisters.
Sister Collete Kouba, a member of the award committee, who is stationed in Hallettsville at Sacred Heart School is making the presentation.
The Third Award was presented to Sister Lois Marie Etzler (left), who is the Office Manager at Nazareth Academy for her outstanding service and friendly inviting smile.
Here we see Sister Andrea Hubnik, a member of the award committee, and IWBS Gereral Treasurer, making the presentation.
The Fourth Award was presented to Sister Digna Vela (right) for her many services as past Diocesan Director of Religious Education and her continued dedication to the Lenten Group Reflection Guide, Disciples on the Journey.
Presenting the Award is Sister Donna Bonorden, Director of Faith Formation at Our Lady of Victory School.
