Sister Mary Juroske, daughter of the late Eddie and Olga (Pratka) Juroske, was born in Angleton, Texas. Sister Mary attended Industrial Elementary School and Lolita Junior High School before entering Nazareth Academy for her high school education. She entered Incarnate Word Convent and received the habit of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament on July 30, 1961 and made her first profession of vows on August 6, 1962. Sister Mary attended Annunciation College where she took Sacred Scripture classes as well as Dogmatic and Moral Theology Courses. When her aptitude for art was perceived, she attended classes in oil painting, charcoal, water color, ceramics and other classes connected with the arts.
During the last 60 years, not only were Sister Mary’s culinary abilities and dietary knowledge put to use at Incarnate Word Convent but so were many of her other talents. She was assigned to Nazareth Academy from 1989-2007 where she developed a clientele for private art lessons and assisted in the N.A. Pre-School Day Care with religion classes. From 2008-2021 Sister Mary volunteered as a teacher/teacher aide in grades Pre-K through Kinder teaching religion. Her last private art lessons were taught in 2021.
Sister Mary moved to Incarnate Word Convent in 2021 and enjoys arts, crafts, puzzles and continues to assist the Sisters.
